I have not been keeping up w this blog because I've been pretty busy in general but also not with a lot of items that fit the blog...

We did go out to see this big hit French movie - it was a funny French affair where I was very proud to understand the humor and the language, including the accents... Not so easy as an expat.

Movie was funny but not hysterical and not something we'll remember in the future, but for once we're up to date w contemporary culture.

We watched this movie which was in French but with Charles Bronson. It was a "policier" and pretty good - from 1968.

Le Gout des Autres

I watched this DVD the night before my DH came home from the hospital, because he told me he'd bought the DVD to show me but that he'd seen it recently and it wasn't something he particularly wanted to re-see.

I really like it - the story, the acting, the characters.

A good and quick film for a quiet evening.

Pasta Carbonara

I made myself pasta carbonara last night. I used the recipe by Nigella Lawson and it was fast but lacked a little something. I think the fact that I skipped vermouth/white wine was a problem, as was the quality of parmesean cheese (industrial grocery store stuff). I also used too small a quantity of lardons, next time I'll try with more. Has the potential to be yummy though...
